CA is a growing Finance Field in Pakistan and the number of students is increasing day by day. It is a professional qualification that covers finance, management, taxation, and auditing. In this article, I’ll explain how you can start CA in Pakistan and share helpful information, resources, and links to get started with CA.
What is CA?
Chartered Accountancy (CA) is a program for students who want to become professional Chartered Accountants. It is one of the most reputed and advanced accounting degrees and is administered by ICAP in Pakistan.
ICAP (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan), founded in 1961, is the regulatory body of CA in Pakistan. That means, the CA program is managed and directed by ICAP.
How to Start CA in Pakistan?
Like every other degree, CA Pakistan has its own admission criteria. If you can meet the requirements, you can start your CA journey right away. Let’s look into the eligibility criteria of CA in detail.
CA Eligibility in Pakistan
You can only start CA if you have a minimum of 50% marks in intermediate (FSC/12th) or at least 2 passes in A-Levels. If you have a Commerce related Bachelor’s, a minimum of 55% aggregate is required to get enrolled in CA program. Other degree holders need to have 60%+ score in their degree.
You cannot start the CA program after Matric and the least qualification required is FSC (inter) or A-Levels.
Eligible, now what?
CA is not a conventional qualification and it is operated in a unique way. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can register yourself with ICAP and start the CA program. You don’t even need to get enrolled in a college!
You can register yourself by visiting the official ICAP website. Just enter your Name, DOB, and other details. Submit and you’re good to go.
Once you register, you will be redirected to a page requiring you to confirm your phone number and the email that you have provided. After confirmation, enter your complete details, pay the fee and you will be registered as a student. For login into the website, you will be provided with a unique centralized registration number (CRN), once your application for registration is completely processed.
Is there any other way?
If you plan to start CA with a learning provider (college), which I highly recommend, register yourself with a college and they will take care of your ICAP registration. They might charge an additional fee but it’s totally worth it. It will mitigate potential errors that you might make in the registration process.
There are many prestigious colleges for CA in Pakistan and each has its pros and cons. Before registering at any college, I suggest you visit the campus personally, meet & connect with enrolled students, and seek guidance from seniors on different online platforms. Every college is more likely to charge you a basket of money right at the start and you need to make sure your investment is worthwhile.
