ACCA Exam Success Tips

What is happiness? Passing your ACCA exam.

How do you Pass the exam? Well, following a few Tips.

What are the Tips? I’m glad you asked!

In this article, I’m going to share some tips that will help you easily pass your ACCA exams. Let’s not bushwhack and jump straight to the ACCA exam success tips.

1. Carefully plan your ACCA exam

Probably, the most important one. Planning in ACCA is vital for success in examination. Take into consideration the remaining time, difficulty of the paper and your schedule.

If you plan on going for TWO or THREE examinations, make sure you are aware of the ACCA smart paper combination, which gives an extra edge in exam preparation.

2. Know what you’re dealing with…

Before you start studying for an exam, make sure to carefully review its syllabus. ACCA changes the syllabus every now and then and it could be damaging if you miss any major update. Here’s how to check if the syllabus has changed:

  • Go to ACCA Global >> Students >> Select your Module >> Select your exam >> Syllabus

OR, go to the ACCA student portal and follow the steps. The syllabus changes are often highlighted for you once you select your exam. Below is the snapshot of a major change.

3. Have Latest ACCA Study Materials

There are a lot of publishers, websites, and Youtube channels that offer guidance and study material for ACCA. The fact that some of them have a repo for certain subjects doesn’t imply you should follow them throughout your ACCA journey.

Before choosing a publisher for a particular paper, go through their course outline and read a sample topic to make sure you’re comfortable with their approach.

4. Have a Study Buddy

While some students enjoy peace and prefer to study alone; some find it hard and boring to sit alone for hours starring at the book. If you’re the latter, find yourself a study partner who’s equally dedicated and challenging to study with.

Group study prevents procrastination and helps students gain new insight and perspective. You may be surprised at just how beneficial group study can be.

5. Study Smart

You have probably heard this a lot of times. ACCA is not a conventional qualification and you must change your approach toward studies. So, how do you study smart?

Don’t measure your preparation by the number of hours that you study. Instead, keep track of how many topics you study each day and how well you understand those topics.

6. Find yourself a Mentor

It’s important to know which direction are you headed from a more experienced person. Your mentor could be a senior ACCA student or a teacher who can guide and give you exam-specific tips for ACCA exams. If you’re self studying, the best way to find a mentor is to join different online ACCA groups and communities on Facebook or any social platforms.

My recommendation is Open Tuition’s student community where you can ask your question directly from tutors who almost reply to every question. I’ve had a wonderful experience and you should definitely check out the community.

7. Read Technical Articles

The fact that most of the study texts focus on the syllabus, they miss out on teaching things like solving particular types of questions. The technical articles available on the ACCA Global website are written by the examining team itself and provide greater insight than third-party books.

8. Work Out to Stay Active

You should take care of your body and brains for it to perform better which includes keeping a healthy diet, working out at least TWICE a week, having a good sleep schedule, and refreshing walks.

What’s it got to do with ACCA? It will help you study more actively.

9. Practice, Practice, and Practice!

I know it sounds boring these days but you just cannot ignore the pros of practicing. There are many exam-style questions in study texts and exam kits and it really helps in speeding up your ability to answer questions in exam. Ideally, you should attempt at least 10 past papers under strict exam conditions to better cope the big day.

10. Never Give up

If you’ve come this far, you can definitely go to the next level. Be consistent and work towards your goals no matter what. Best of luck with your next ACCA exam and don’t forget to share your results!
